2016: Bratislava, Slovakia

From June 30 until November 9, more than 60 Cobra works were presented at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum. The presentation, European Stars, was combined with a presentation of works by Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893-1983) and focused on the stylistic and methodological links between them. Miró and the Cobra group both experimented with a range of artistic styles. On the afternoon of Thursday 30 June Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands opened the exhibition ‘European Stars: Miró and Cobra’ at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava, Slovakia. The exhibition’s opening also marked the Netherlands’ handover of the rotating six-month Presidency of the Council of the European Union to Slovakia.
